DONALD R HARTTER

Undergraduate

My membership in Alpha Chi Sigma was brief; I was initiated in fall 1960 and left in the spring 1961 after graduating with a BS in Chemistry. I never lived at the house so I doubt that many Zeta Chapter members remember me.

From 1961 to 1964, I was a graduate student in Chemistry at UC Berkeley and then joined the Army to fulfill my two year Univ. of Illinois ROTC obligation (stationed at Ordnance Corp R&D facility in Washington, D.C.) Thereafter, I had a year Post Doctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and in1968, began employment as a research chemist at DuPont’s Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE.

After 8 years with DuPont in R&D and Manufacturing assignments, I left in 1975 to join Air Products and Chemicals in Allentown, PA as a Research Director. I retired from Air Products in 2000 after various assignments in R&D, Business Development, Manufacturing and Business Management. I spent my last 15 years focused on Asia working in business development capacities that included a period of residence in Japan from 1989 to1993 as Air Product’s Chemicals Group Asia Regional Manager.

In retirement my wife, Jackie, and I live as “snowbirds” spending the winter season in FL and the summer season in PA to share our time with seven grandchildren located in FL and PA.
