Civil Engineering - Ven Te Chow



Manoutchehr Heidari received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. His area of research was management of water resources systems. His research advisor was Professor Ven Te Chow. After receiving his Ph.D. degree in 1970, he started working for the Illinois State Geological Survey. Later, he taught at Michigan State University. In 1977 he began research at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. In 1980 he was appointed as the Chief of the Geohydrology Section of the Kansas Geological Survey. In 1991 he returned to the Illinois State Geological Survey. In 1999 he was appointed as the Director of the Groundwater Section of the Illinois State Water Survey in Champaign, Illinois. Since March 2001 he is an independent consultant.

Manoutchehr is married to the former Gail Olmstead and is father of two daughters, Shireen and Shahrzad Heidari. Shireen is a medical doctor practicing in Indianapolis. Shahrzad is a student in the Veterinary Medicine program at the University of Illinois.
