After graduation, in 1964, Don joined Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Don worked for PPCo until his retirement in 1996. During his 32 years with PPCo, he held numerous research and management positions in chemical, refining and catalyst areas. He obtained over 100 US and foreign patents and was made a Research Fellow Emeritus at retirement (so he still works some).
He married, and is still married to, the former Roseann Bouziden in 1966. Since she is young, she is still working as the Manager of PPCO's Benefit Plans.
The Kubiceks have one daughter, Karen, who is the Manager of the Stock Option Plans for SBC in San Antonio, Texas. She is married to Matthew Conrad and they have one Labrador Retriever and one African Gray (bird).
You might remember that Don used to shoot bow and arrow, he no longer does this, but plays some tennis.Donald Kubicek graduated with a B. S. in Chemistry with Honors from The University of Iowa in 1960. He began his graduate work at the University of Illinois that fall carrying out his research on Alkene Boronic Acids under the direction of Dr. Harold Snyder.

Bartlesville couple killed in accident
A Bartlesville couple was killed last night in an accident west of Medford, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. Donald H. Kubicek, 65, and Roseann K. Kubicek, 59, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 4:35 p.m. Sunday in Grant County, about 4 miles west of Medford on State Highway 11, reports indicate. Also reported dead as a result of the accident is Jarrett K. Parker, 63, of Carmen.
OHP troopers say the Kubiceks were westbound on State Highway 11 when their vehicle, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, went left of center and collided head-on with Parker's vehicle, an eastbound 1998 GMC Yukon. The Yukon reportedly burned after the collision. The bodies of all three were taken to Ely Funeral Home in Medford, according to OHP. At press time, funeral arrangements for the couple were not announced.
